MP remark: matter ends with apology, says Trinamool

Amidst the growing clamour for action against Trinamool Congress MP, Tapas Pal for making offensive comments against women, the party here on Wednesday tried to put to put an end to the controversy. The national spokesperson of the TMC said that the party "has accepted" Mr. Pal's apology.

 "Party has accepted his (Tapas pal) unconditional apology and the party believes that the tone and tenor of the letter is right and the matter ends there," said Derek O'Brien, national spokesperson of Trinamool Congress.

During the day, however, a public interest litigation (PIL) was filed  before  the Calcutta High Court  seeking penal action against the MP.
