Nashik: The blood and swab samples of more than a dozen suspected Swine Flu cases including a 40-year—old man, who died of bronchitis on Saturday, have been sent for testing, civic hospital authorities said.
Bhausaheb Gosavi, a resident of Gandhinagar locality, passed away in the wee hours today after being admitted to the Nashik civil hospital last night, Civil Surgeon Dr A D Bhalsingh said.
Gosavi was suffering from ashthma and chronic bronchitis and was undergoing treatment at private hospitals since August 3 before being brought here, he said.
Samples of about 20 patients including Gosavi’s have been sent for testing to the Pune—based National Institute of Virology (NIV) and their results are awaited, Dr. Bhalsingh said.
All the patients including Hrishikesh Kulkarni, who was discharged from the civic hospital early this week, have been kept in an isolation ward and their condition is stable.
They are being administered Tamiflu, the doctor said.
Kulkarni was re-admitted to the hospital after his tests results turned out to be positive for HINI, he said.
Also, six of his family members were hospitalised as a precautionary measure, Dr. Bhalsingh said.
Nashik witnessed its first swine flu casualty on Wednesday when a 28-year-old doctor Rupesh Gangurde fell to the deadly viral disease.
