BJP president Rajnath Singh said on Tuesday that the decision to appoint Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to the election campaign committee was a unanimous one and would not be revisited.

Mr. Singh was in Rajasthan’s Banswara district to participate in a programme held to mark the birth anniversary of legendary Rajput ruler Maharana Pratap.

The decision to appoint Mr. Modi was taken unanimously by the party and there was no question of taking it back, Mr. Singh said on the sidelines of the function. “Who is talking about changing the decision... where am I changing the decision,” the BJP chief told journalists when asked if he was firm on the decision or would go back on it considering senior leader L.K. Advani’s stand.

“Advani is our guide”

To a question on Mr. Advani’s role in the party, Mr. Singh said the veteran leader “has been our guide, is our guide and will remain our guide.”
