A faster and enhanced version of low-cost tablet PC, Aakash, would be launched on trial basis in May, Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal said here on Monday.
“The second version of Aakash will be launched some time in May,” Mr. Sibal said on the sidelines of an ICC organised higher education conclave.
He said the tablet was being tested and based on feedback from students commercial production would be taken up.
The new tablet would have a better 3200m AH battery with a three hour battery backup, a 700 MHz Cortex A8 processor and a capacitive touch screen which would get over the earlier issues observed in the tablets, Mr. Sibal had said earlier.
The first stage of 100,000 tablets was aimed for students of higher technical educational institutions, he had said recently.

waste government always late .They will play with others
There is also confusion on the cost of the Tablet. Whereas booking on line for Ubislate + the price is Rs 2999/- but there is promotion mail from Datawind which says book it for Rs 2499/-. There is no commitment on the delivery dates even.
Is there someone who has received the product so far ?

December-2011 to May-2012 What does it mean they are just fooling the public and nothing. Also price is not good as mentioned earlier.
When will Aakash 2 finally launch in Mumbai. It is getting delayed
every now and then. When I booked it and even paid full amount of
Rs. 3000/- , I was informed the delivery will be March 2012 , than it
was postponed to April 2012 and now it is being said it will be launched
in May 2012. When will it be actually launched and when will we get
delivery of same. Even after making the payment, there is no news of
delivery of same
