The Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, will address a rally here on January 12.

The ‘Vijay Sankalp’ rally, one of the 100 planned by the BJP nationwide, is set to kick-start the party’s campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections.

BJP president Rajnath Singh will also attend the rally, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and BJP Goa president Vinay Tendulakar said here on Wednesday.

Mr. Parrikar, who heads the organising committee for the rally, said this would be the only rally to be addressed by Mr. Modi in Goa in the run-up to the polls.

He said party leaders would visit households to invite people for the rally; he himself would tour 16 constituencies.

Mr. Parrikar denied that the government machinery was being used for organising the rally.
