Ridiculing the Congress for its decision to field the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ashok Chavan, as its Lok Sabha candidate from Nanded, BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Sunday said: “Mr. Chavan is Congress’ ‘adarsh’ candidate.”
Mr. Chavan is an accused in the Adarsh scam.
Addressing a rally in Nanded, Mr. Modi said: “The ruling Congress promised that it would take action against all the tainted politicians in the Adarsh scam. Is giving a ticket to Mr. Chavan the party’s way of taking action?” Earlier in Chandigarh, Mr. Modi referred to himself as the “future Prime Minster.”
On a similar note, in Nanded he said: “Your future government will take action against all the corrupt leaders. We will set up fast track cases in a special court of all those who are involved in corruption scams, including Adarsh, and purify the government within one year. All tainted politicians should go to jail,” said Mr. Modi.
