Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday accused Bhatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi of dividing communities through his remarks on the “pink revolution” and cow slaughter.
Releasing the JD (U) manifesto along with party president Sharad Yadav, Mr. Kumar said issues like cow slaughter and mutton export should not be raised to whip up emotions as they could threaten the unity of the country.
Mr. Kumar said debates should be created around policies and not to stir up emotions.
Observing that he himself was a vegetarian, Mr. Kumar said most BJP leaders were voracious eaters of cattle and bird meat. He said he had been forced to walk out of the NDA as the BJP did not believe in harmony any more.
