As the government prepares to showcase its achievements at the end of its one year in power in May, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday invited senior bureaucrats for “chai pe charcha’’ at his 7 Race Course residence here.

The Prime Minister, who is known to keep in direct touch with the bureaucracy, laid out a sumptuous vegetarian spread over which he had an informal “interaction’’ with secretaries of all departments.

Led by Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth, the secretaries discussed a variety of themes with Mr. Modi, who listened patiently, said a bureaucrat who attended the tea party.

The Prime Minister asked the bureaucrats to pursue government schemes with vigour so as to make them visible.
