The Congress on Sunday took strong exception to the remarks made by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on the last day of the BJP’s national council meeting here, saying that he did not have the capability as yet to be a national leader.
Mr. Modi virtually set the agenda for the party, ahead of the 2014 general elections, by targeting the Congress and training his guns on the Nehru-Gandhi family and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, whom he described as a “night watchman.”
The Congress said Mr. Modi was mistaken if he thought that he could attain the stature of a national leader by spending funds of the State on “self-propaganda.” “The kind of language that Mr. Modi used does not behove any leader of national stature. I think he is not yet capable of attaining the stature of a national leader,” Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla said.
“A bundle of lies”
Mr. Modi, in his speech, said that though Pranab Mukherjee was more deserving, the Congress did not make him Prime Minister and chose Manmohan Singh.
To this, Mr. Shukla said: “His speech is a bundle of lies. Today he is expressing a liking for Pranab Mukherjee. If he had the courage of conviction, then why did he not support him [in last year’s presidential elections]. NDA partners Nitish Kumar and Shiv Sena had done so. At that time Pranab Mukherjee was not likeable, then you were praising P.A. Sangma. This is doublespeak.”
Congress spokesperson and MP Rashid Alvi said: “Dr. Singh is the Prime Minister of the country and not just of the Congress. His name should be taken with respect. His honour is the country’s honour.”
Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari said the then Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, had reminded the Gujarat CM of ‘raj dharma’ in the wake of the 2002 riots that had shaken the State.

Mr Ramani , " tearing up of a pregnant woman's womb" was a lie unleashed to tarnish the image of Modi. This was pointed out by the court itself. Why should Modi be ostracized for such conjured up stories by anti national elements?
Aha ! This is nice, coming from the Congress. Which "gentleman" in the present cabinet has the "ALL INDIA STATURE" ?. Is it Mr.Shinde who puts his foot in his mouth, whenever he opens it ? Is it Mr. Pawar who was slapped on the face by an ordinary citizen, in public ? Is it Mr.Sibal who runs very close to Mr. Shivraj Patil in the Joker Pack ? Is it Mr. P. Chidambaram, by far the most dogmatic and self-opinionated and unpopular FM, whose election as an MP is itself suspect and facing judicial scrutiny ? Is it Mr. Antony, another "WISHY WASHY HONEST" person heading a big "DIS-HONEST" bunch ? Even a powerful searchlight focussed on the congress stables can not find one worthy leader of national stature today. The decline is clear and visible to all, except to the "LOYAL" congressmen.
Modi seems to lack the basic civility expected from any leader of any
stature. One cannot be a leader by always almost abusing others and
calling names. He can be best in a comedy show. Long way to go. It will
be better if he instead comes out with a road map for future of India.
Indian voters are seldom misled by this kind of cheap speeches.
After 66 years of achieving freedom this country and its 120 crore population should feel ashamed that still it has to look up to one family, its descendants who are half -hearted to take up responsibility, its in-laws whose only right to legacy is being married to someone in the family who was equally disinterested in taking up the mantle and all of whom have had their own share of blunders in policies and visions which have resulted in India being what it is today. Why cannot we accept the fact that another citizen of this great nation may be capable of ruling the country in an equally good or equally bad manner or even better or worse? Why should we hang on to the feet of this one family begging them to rule us? It is time the FAMILY is pushed out of the scene and congress itself starts uniting under a new leader. Let them take a clue from the history of Barak Obama.

replace it with synonyms like Rajul and Digvijay all together?
Congress should be ashamed of responding by saying that "Modi is not capable of Prime Ministership". Instead of making such comments, which actually are sounding stupid in today's India, they should focus on getting better people-centric policies which is not enough to get them to power for sure in 2014, but can save a little dignity. They should stop minority appeasement politics but respect & acknowledge that the perspective of common Indians is not of '60's and 70's but has changed and can simply be understood if development politics is followed. So Con-gress please change yourselves and prepare to be a good opposition in 2014..
Modi fanatics should know that Manmohan Singh has not engineered the
riots at Naroda patiya, not overseen tearing up of a pregnant woman's
womb and pulling out the foetus, and such other crimes against
humanity. Why is it that growth has not visited all the gujaratis and
just only one community. does he know the environmental cost of the
so called development he claims from roof tops. growth is inclusive
growth and not the growth of one community alone. why did he not give
even one ticket to the assembly elections to muslims. why is he
scared of them. why doesn't he ever visit the naroda patiya at least
once a year. is guilt turning in his stomach? he is nothing more
than a regional satrap.
Mr Modi do not deserve to be a PM. Nitish Kumar can be a great option for PM. Modi cant even respect his opponents.
As per Shukla i think only Rahul can be viewed as National
leader.because he is the one,who is facing defeat wherever he goes for
campaign.
Congress knows very well that Pranab babu became President by default,
not due to the liking of Sonia Gandhi.Now the ball is in his court.2014
could be a nightmare for Congress party. Narendra Modi has hit Congress
where it hurts the most.Hence the reactions. Modi is paying them with

The party which is subservient and silent to one family's "raj" rule, the party which
stood absolutely quiet when "Emergency" was imposed under false premises, the
party which witch hunted Sikhs after Indira was killed, the party which has stooped
down to any level to be involved in scandal after scandal (sorry one page is not
enough), the party which does have the pride to show case a pure Indian as its leader
(shamelessly falling @ the feet of an Italian born), a party that is purely opportunistic
(of course applicable to all parties), has pseudo leaders that are none but foul-
mouthed, unthinking, self-serving - has no moral or intellectual standing to talk
about anybody else, who at least has some standing as a leader and definitely has
done more than Congress rule has done to whole India in these many years.

Only Mr.Rahul Gandhi deserves to become the PM- He has proven himself
all these years that he is a very capable administrator.
Whatever the Congress leaders might say, the whole country knows that the Congress
party is just the political arm of Sonia Gandhi and her family. The country knows that
Sonia Gandhi and her son wield tremendous power over the party and the government
that party leads. Mr.Modi has not disclosed any secret in his speech.

country. this is high time to erode such so called dynasty from this
democracy, this government has become the nexus of looters.
on the other hand if we see the report card of Mr. MOdi as a
administrator, his work has been commendable.

is no riot in last 10 years in Gujarat. where see the condition of
U.P., Assam . and these people will not raise finger here.
on last thing.. secularism should means secularism not the appeasement
of minority. one who is doing crime, terrorism should be punished

If COngress is so sure about Modi's inability (or lack of talent) to
become the national leader, why should they seem to be desperate? Why
should they spend their nights and days to think how to counter Modi?

People are aware of the dirty language used by the great party through Manisankar Iyer, Singhs, Sighvis, etc. There was nothing wrong in Modi's language against Man Mohan Singh, who is congress party member and member of Upper House from Assam. What Modi had said were taken from the various media reporting only. If congress is sensitive to face criticism from other political leaders they should cover their heads. Modi Bugle is shaking the congress and its discarded ex-office holders who would like to show their allegiance to the congress top leaders vie for media attention. Let's wait for 2014 and search for these leaders thereafter.
