MNS corporator slaps contractor

December 03, 2012 01:28 am | Updated June 15, 2016 04:25 pm IST - Mumbai:

In a brazen act, a corporator of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena repeatedly slapped an elderly private contractor over alleged delay in repairing a damaged water pipeline at Kalyan, 53 km from here. The footage of the shocking assault telecast by news channels shows Nitin Nikam repeatedly slapping 65-year-old D.G. Patil in full public view following water shortage in the Ganeshwadi locality.

Mr. Patil works in the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation in the neighbouring Thane district.

When asked about the incident, Mr. Nikam told a TV channel that he resorted to the ‘MNS style of action’ to “teach the man [Mr. Patil] a lesson after sweet words did not do the trick.”

Mr. Patil alleged that when he went to lodge a complaint at the local police station, the officials registered only a non-cognisable offence.
