Union Environment and Forest Minister Prakash Javadekar has expressed confidence that the Land Acquisition Bill which was passed by Lok Sabha will get the approval of the Upper House when it was taken up for consideration in the next four days.
Reminded that the Congress leader Kamalanathan had said here a few days ago that the Bill would not be passed by Rajya Sabha where the BJP did not have numbers, Mr. Javadekar said he hoped that wisdom prevailed over Congress to ensure the passage of the legislation. In any case, a dialogue was already on with the Opposition to see that the Bill was passed because there were no more doubts left on the merits of the legislation. The government had made nine amendments to the Bill to dispel all doubts in the minds of people.
The Minister also said that the Mines and Minerals Bill which was referred to the select committee will also be passed. At least four Bills would be passed by Parliament from March 18 to 20, he added.
