Minimum Support Price of paddy raised to Rs. 1,310 a quintal

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Thursday approved an increase of Rs. 60 per quintal in the minimum support price of common variety of kharif paddy.

The panel also approved hike in the support price of pulses, oilseeds and a variety of cotton.

According to a highly placed source, the minimum support price of Common variety of paddy has been raised to Rs. 1,310 from Rs 1,250 per quintal last year, while the Grade A variety support price has been hiked by Rs. 65 per quintal to Rs. 1,345 from Rs. 1,280 per quintal last year.

While the support price for jowar has been left untouched at last year’s level of Rs. 1,500 per quintal, the price for bajra has been raised to Rs. 1,250 per quintal.

There has been no increase in the support price of urad dal at Rs. 4,300 per quintal. Moong price has been hiked to Rs. 4,500 per quintal from Rs. 4400 per quintal last year. Arhar (tur) support price has been hiked by Rs. 450 per quintal to Rs. 4,300 as against Rs. 3,850 per quintal.
