Two militants killed in Budgam encounter, says J&K police

A patrolling party of 53 Rashtriya Rifles came under fire from militants at village Hayatpora, triggering a gunbattle between the two sides

Two militants were killed in a gunfight broke out on Saturday evening in Budgam district of central Kashmir after militants opened fire on a patrolling party of the Army, the Jammu and Kashmir police said.

A patrolling party of 53 Rashtriya Rifles came under fire from militants at village Hayatpora, 18 km from Srinagar, around 6 p.m., triggering a gunbattle between the two sides, a police official said.

Reinforcements have been rushed to the village which was cordoned off to flush out the militants, the official added.
