Militants attack houses of govt. official, hospital chief in Manipur

Unidentified militants attacked the houses of a Manipur government official and the chief of a private hospital by lobbing bombs but they did not explode, the police said on Sunday.

The militants hurled a powerful bomb at the house of executive engineer of public works department Kh. Mohori at Khurai area in Imphal East district on Saturday.

This was the third time the militants hurled bombs at Mohori’s house in a month, the sources said adding that the attack was connected with monetary demand from the official by a militant outfit.

In another incident, the militants lobbed a grenade at the house of Managing Director of a private hospital, S Maipak at Kwakeithel area in Imphal west district late on Saturday night, sources said adding that monetary demand from Maipak by a militant outfit was the cause of the incident.

Both the unexploded bombs were removed by experts and later defused.
