Senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideologue M.G. Vaidya on Friday said that senior BJP leader L.K. Advani should retire from politics.
Speaking to some reporters at his residence here, Mr. Vaidya said “Advani should retire from active politics now. Young people should be given charge of the party. At one point of time everyone has to retire. I stepped aside after a particular age. Sudarshanji [former RSS boss] also decided to retire. Rajju Bhaiya [RSS chief before Sudarshan] appointed Sudarshanji as the Sarsanghchalak [RSS chief] in his own lifetime. Balasaheb Deoras [RSS chief before Rajju Bhaiya] also did the same thing. New people should get position in the party now. This is perfectly natural. ‘Lekin ek samay, hame apne kriyashil jeevan se viram lena chahiye (At one point of time, we should retire from our working life).
“It is another thing if someone does not want to get retired but one should always remember that there are certain limits to human beings. It’s not that the elders have no place in the party but they should now act as a guide to young leaders and should not take any posts.”
Mr. Vaidya wanted BJP leaders to make their stand clear on the Ayodhya issue. “Advani, Rajnath Singh and others should speak on this issue. Advani was the one who carried out the Rath Yatra, so I think they still have this issue close to their heart. But there may be some ‘political adjustments’ because in politics, people think of the next five years only.”
