Over 300 scientists from across the country will participate in a three-day seminar — TROPMET-2012 — here from November 20 and hold discussions on new frontiers of meteorology with special reference to the Himalayas. Conducted by the Indian Meteorological Society and the Uttarakhand Space Application Centre, the seminar is expected to be a platform for exchange of views and scientific data and encourage interest in mountain meteorology, Anand Sharma, Director of State Meteorological Centre and Secretary of the Indian Meteorological Society, Dehra Dun Chapter, said on Friday.
A highlight of the seminar will be the participation of eminent international scientists such as Dr. Krishnamurthy (U.S.A.), Dr. Jagdish Shukla (U.S.A.), Dr. Kamal Puri (Australia) and Dale Barker (U.K. Met Office).
Sixteen eminent international and national scientists will deliver the key-note address. The inaugural function would be held in the Survey of India auditorium while the rest of the sessions would be held in the auditoriums of the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Mr. Sharma said.
