National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon on Monday expressed the hope that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Bangladesh next month would add a new dimension to the bilateral ties.
His view came when he called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the end of his two-day visit here.
‘Historic'
A spokesman for Ms. Hasina told journalists that Mr. Menon termed Dr. Singh's visit, scheduled for September 6 and 7, “very important and historic,” especially since the Chief Ministers of five Indian States bordering Bangladesh would accompany him.
Mr. Menon discussed Dr. Singh's itinerary with Ms. Hasina, who expressed the hope that the relations would be strengthened by the visit.
Mr. Menon held extensive talks with Ms. Hasina's advisors Mashiur Rahman and Gowher Rizvi.
