Meeting with Yechury personal: AAP leader

May 02, 2015 02:10 am | Updated 02:10 am IST - NEW DELHI:

In a meeting that both parties sought to downplay, Aam Aadmi Party’s point person for parliamentary work, Raghav Chadha, called on the newly elected Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Friday.

Mr. Chadha described the meeting as personal, rejecting speculation that he was sent as an emissary of AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

No word from CPI(M)

There was no official word on the meeting from the CPI(M).

Mr. Chadha also told The Hindu that he was regularly in touch with several party leaders as he is tasked with helping AAP’s members of Parliament in their legislative work.

However, he maintained that his meeting with Mr. Yechury was “personal.’’ But, Mr. Kejriwal’s office was aware of the “personal’’ meeting.

This is arguably the first time someone from the AAP has visited the CPI(M) headquarters though Mr. Kejriwal has met Mr. Yechury a couple of times in Parliament prior to becoming the Chief Minister.
