Over 890 personnel have been awarded police medals on Independence Day this year. Police Medals for Gallantry have been conferred on 113 personnel, President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service conferred on 84, and Police Medals for Meritorious Service awarded to 682 personnel.

Eight personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force have been honoured, four posthumously, with the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry, and 44, including six posthumously, with the Police Medal for Gallantry.

While one officer of the elite National Security Guard has been conferred the Police Medal for Distinguished Service, two officers — an Assistant Commander and a ranger — have been awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service. Team Commander Prahlad Choudhary has been conferred with the Police Medal for Distinguished Service, and Dr. Bhupendra Kumar Mehta and Commander Ganesh Kumar with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

Of the 30 Central Industrial Security Force officials, Inspector General Sanjay Chander, Deputy Commandant Dharam Pal Bahl, and Assistant Commandant Dalip Singh Rawat have been conferred the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

Among those awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service are Deputy Inspectors General Jaideep Prasad, Anjani Kumar Singh, and Sudeep Kumar Sinha; Commandant Kuldip Kumar, Assistant Inspector General Kumar Pratap Singh, Deputy Commandants Vijai Singh and Satyabir Singh, and Assistant Commandants K. T. Joseph, A. A. Ashtekar, and B. Mallikarjun M. Rao.
