The Mumbai Cricket Association will seriously consider on Friday a proposal to ban Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shah Rukh Khan from entering the Wankhede Stadium premises.
The executive committee meeting here, under the chairmanship of MCA president Vilasrao Deshmukh, will consider the one-point agenda, and the decision will be conveyed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the Indian Premier League, said joint honorary secretary Nitin Dalal
The MCA has lodged a complaint with the Marine Drive police on the alleged manhandling of its security guard and hurling of abuses at its officials by the actor and his personal security personnel at the stadium at the conclusion of an IPL match on Wednesday.
MCA treasurer Ravi Savant, who was an eyewitness, said: “It's not worth reacting to what he [Shah Rukh Khan] said today [Thursday]. The MCA, BCCI officials and police officers were there at the venue. So I don't want to say anything to his statements. We will be definitely happy if he does not come to the Wankhede Stadium. Discipline is of primary importance in a cricket stadium. If he doesn't know that, he doesn't understand cricket, and hence he need not come here. That would be better.”
Mr. Savant would move the resolution at Friday's meeting for a life ban on the actor entering the stadium.
