The ruling and opposition parties in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday termed BSP chief Mayawati’s rally here as a flop show.

By organising such shows, she had ridiculed the common man and the poor, leaders of political parties said “Mayawati used to read written speech...I think her educational degrees are fake,” UP Cabinet minister and senior SP leader Shivpal Singh Yadav said.

Terming BSP’s rally a flop show, he said the BSP’s show could not be compared to even SP’s divisional-level rallies.

Mr. Shivpal said describing Uttar Pradesh as crime pradesh amounted to humiliating UP-ites.

“The fact is that the law and order was worst during the BSP regime. She herself had accepted that her government had 500 criminals,” he said.

UP BJP chief Laxmi Kant Bajpai alleged Mayawati was scared of the popularity of party’s prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi.

Talking to reporters on the launch of a website for “Fund for Modi PM in UP”, he said on the one hand, Ms. Mayawati flays the SP, on the other both the parties are extending support to the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre.

Mr. Bajpai said Ms. Mayawati did not prefer to discuss the issue of corruption cases against the then ministers and MLAs pending with Lokayukta.

The Congress alleged by organising such rallies, the the BSP had made a mockery of the poor and the Muzaffarnagar riot victims.
