Foreign companies and multinational corporations will not be allowed to do business in Uttar Pradesh “as long as she is the Chief Minister,” Mayawati has said.
She has also warned that if the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government fails to immediately withdraw the decision to allow 51 per cent foreign direct investment in multi-brand retail, she will be forced to take some “hard decision.” Her Bahujan Samaj Party would oppose the move in Parliament and on the streets.
Launching a frontal attack on Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, she said the decision was taken to please the “Congress yuvraj” and enable “his foreign friends” and “foreign companies” to “reap economic benefits” at the cost of crores of small and petty traders, farmers, labourers and small and medium entrepreneurs.”
“With the Vidhan Sabha elections just months ahead, the ‘yuvraj' is campaigning to bring the Congress back to power in Uttar Pradesh with the aim of enabling his ‘foreign friends' and MNCs to set up shop,” she said.

every where in the world big malls like Walmarts, carrefour,Teso Ikeya
etc do attract huge consumers especially women every day.The tourists
make it a point to visit and purchase goods. They feel they are not only good but also cheaper then the small malls. Also they get everything under one roof. While the ladies are very much in favour of such malls
in our country it is interesting to not that all women leaders including
women CMs are opposing this venture. Some women are threatening to set
fire when they are erected. They all know very well that middle class
people are not affected by the presence or absence of big malls.
Some of the new malls in India already established well in spite of
stiff opposition by these leaders at the beginning.
We hope public opinion would prevail in course of time
and the big malls would be allowed under FDI
we are wasting a large percentage of grown vegetables and fruits without proper cold storage facilities or processing plants. Our farmers are smart. They will be able to coordinate with the multinational companies and get a better price for their commodities. Today they are unable to break the collusion between the middleman and the politicians. Given the choice to the farmers they will positively extract the best prices from MNCs and the common people will be able to get continuously quality groceries and fruits round the year. Possibilities for betterment are plenty.
