The JVM-P, which has 2 MPs, has already withdrawn support to UPA government

The former Jharkhand Chief Minister, Babulal Marandi, on Saturday met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee here and pledged support to her party against the UPA government both inside and outside Parliament.

The Trinamool chief had taken a correct stand by opposing the policies of the Manmohan Singh government, said Mr. Marandi, chief of the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P).

He lauded Ms. Banerjee for withdrawing support to the UPA government and said the entire country was protesting against the “anti-people” policies of the Centre.

“My visit is to assure Ms. Banerjee that people of Jharkhand are with her,” the Koderma MP told journalists.

His meeting with the Trinamool chief is significant as it comes only five days after the JVM-P withdrew support to the Central government. The party has two MPs in the Lok Sabha.
