Maoists: stop combing or face consequences

February 22, 2011 02:19 am | Updated October 10, 2016 09:11 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

Even as the Naveen Patnaik government is holding talks with interlocutors on the release of Malkangiri Collector R. Vineel Krishna and junior engineer Prabitra Mohan Majhi, who were kidnapped on Wednesday last, the CPI (Maoist) on Monday alleged that the Andhra Pradesh police and the paramilitary forces were engaged in heavy combing operations and the situation was not different on the Orissa side,

Party's Andhra-Orissa border State Zonal committee spokesman Prasad reportedly conveyed this to a few journalists of the print and electronic media at a place deep in the forests of Orissa. He also gave letters purportedly written by Mr. Vineel Krishna and Mr. Majhi saying that they were doing well.

There was a large force of police on the Andhra-Orissa border and many personnel were also deployed on the Vizianagaram side, he reportedly said. Prasad warned that if the combing operations continued, the repercussions would be “alarming.”
