Maoists have called for a two-day shutdown from Monday in West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand demanding that six of their “detained” leaders be produced before the court.
“We will observe bandh in these States on April 26 and 27, keeping hospitals, supply of water and essential commodities normal,” a spokesperson of West Bengal State Committee of CPI (Maoist) Khokhan told the media here.
He alleged that Chandrasekhar and five other Maoist leaders were detained by the police from Gopiballavpur and Salbani in West Midnapore district on April 15 and 16 respectively.
“But they have not been produced before the court and are being illegally detained,” he said.
The police declined to comment on the Maoist allegations.
