Maoists blow up two middle schools in Jharkhand

The Maoists blew up two middle schools in Giridih district, the police said on Tuesday.

The ultras packed explosives inside Upgraded Haridih School and Upgraded Dharpahari School after midnight on Monday, damaging the structures, the police said here.

The schools are named after respective villages situated under Bheluaghat police outpost.

There was no loss of life in the incident, said the police, who have set out on foot to reach the difficult terrains to avoid landmines.

The Maoists usually trigger blasts in schools which the security forces use as shelters during their anti-naxal operations.
