Train services along the Delhi-Kolkata line were disrupted for a few hours after Maoists blasted the track in Bihar’s Gaya district to enforce a 24-hour bandh.
The incident took place around 11 p.m. on Friday between the Guraru and Paraiya stations in Gaya-Mughalsarai section of East Central Railway. Several trains, including the Kolkata Rajdhani, were delayed and diverted as a result.
“The Maoists had planted bombs in the tracks and the down railway line was damaged. Trains service was disrupted between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. It was not a heavy explosion. It was just a show of strength. The services resumed by morning,” Gaya senior superintendent of police Vinay Kumar told The Hindu .
Two Maoists were killed in Gaya last week in a clash between rival groups.
