One of the three women allegedly held captive here for 30 years by the Indian-origin head of a Maoist sect has been reunited with her sister who flew in from Malaysia.
Kamar Mahtum came to London to meet her younger sister Siti Aishah Abdul Wahab, 69, who disappeared in the early 1970s after joining a far-Left commune.
“It was a very emotional day... At first I didn’t recognise her. She looked different, of course, 40 years older; the beautiful young girl had gone,” the 73-year-old retired teacher told The Daily Telegraph . Aishah came to Britain as a student in 1968, but turned her back on her family after joining the radical left.
