The bandh call given by Maoists in protest against Operation Green Hunt, in Vidarbha commenced peacefully on Monday with no reports of violence so far, police said.

Maoists put banners displaying the bandh call and placed a couple of wooden logs near Kurupalli between Etapalli and Allapalli areas in Maoist-hit Gadchiroli, to disrupt traffic movement, they said.

However, vehicular traffic remained unaffected and no untoward incident has been reported since Monday morning, police added.

High security measures and arrangements are in place to tackle the bandh call given by Maoists in three districts of Maharashtra comprising Gadchiroli, Bhandara and Gondia.
