The former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will challenge the summons that has been issued to him by a CBI Special Court in the coal scam case before April 8 in the Supreme Court, it is learnt.

A day after the dramatic march of Congress leaders from the AICC headquarters to Dr. Singh’s residence to express solidarity with him, party spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed, answering a question on the case, said, “Legal experts are looking into the matter, and the Constitution provides equal opportunity to everyone to defend himself.”

Stressing that the entire Congress stood with Dr. Singh, he said, “The integrity of Dr. Manmohan Singh is unquestionable. Not only in India but Dr. Singh is respected world over for his impeccable integrity and fairness.”
