Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi will be the star campaigners besides Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for the Haryana Assembly elections on October 13.

They will be unleashing the party’s campaign after September 30 by addressing public rallies all over the State. The endeavour will be to cover the 90 Assembly constituencies in the State, according to Congress spokesman Ved Prakash Vidrohi.

Meanwhile, all 90 party candidates would be briefed by Mr. Hooda and Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Phool Chand Mullana at the party office here this Sunday about the party’s strategies and campaign.

Hi-tech media centre

Mr. Hooda would also inaugurate a hi-tech media centre at the party office in Sector 9 here, according to the Chief Minister’s media adviser, Sunderpal Singh.

He said Mr. Hooda, who has decided not to campaign in his own Garhi Sampla-Kiloi constituency, would also discuss with the candidates his election schedule to campaign for them in their constituencies.

Appeal to rebels

Mr. Hooda would also be visiting some of the “sensitive constituencies” in the next two-three days to appeal to party “rebels” to withdraw from the race and extend support to the official candidates. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is September 29.
