Hardeep Singh Puri, a former IFS officer who took over as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs on Monday, got a call from former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh wishing him luck on his new assignment.
Mr. Puri was in the World Trade Organisation when Dr. Singh was Finance Minister. Later when Dr. Singh became Prime Minister, Mr. Puri was in the United Nations.
“The urban housing and development challenges are daunting and transformative, and I intend to give my best to meet the targets under various new urban missions,” Mr. Puri said.
He holds independent charge of the Ministry.
