Mamata may contest from Bhowanipore

A by-election in which West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is expected to contest to secure membership in the State Assembly was announced here on Thursday. Ms. Banerjee is expected to contest from Bhowanipore.

“The dates for the by-elections in two constituencies, Bhowanipore and Basirhat Uttar, have been decided. Polling will be held on September 25 and counting will be done on September 28,” Chief Electoral Officer Sunil Gupta said.
