The Central Information Commission has directed the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee to disclose the policy under which complimentary tickets and free passes were distributed during the sporting extravaganza.

In response to an RTI query seeking details of complimentary tickets distributed at the discretion of Chairman Suresh Kalmadi, the Organising Committee said no passes were issued in such a manner and such distribution was against the approved policy.

Activist Subhash Agrawal had also sought to know the names of beneficiaries of the complimentary tickets. The OC without giving any details said the tickets were issued against the “unsold policy” approved by the Board and no quota was deferred.

While hearing Mr. Agrawal’s plea, Information Commissioner M.L. Sharma directed the OC to give all details of “the policy under which distribution of complimentary tickets” was approved along with other relevant details.

Mr. Sharma also directed the OC to disclose all the documents related to conduct of the games which are still held by it.

The OC had said the tickets were issued as complimentary against unsold policy approved by the Board and distributed to the Organising Committee stakeholders, federations, defence, Delhi government, volunteers, workforce.
