The Nagpur police have filed a case against Yoga guru Ramdev for his remark that has allegedly hurt the Dalit sentiments.

Addressing a gathering in Lucknow, Ramdev attacked Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and was quoted as having said, “He [Mr. Gandhi] goes to Dalits' houses for honeymoon and picnic. Had he married a Dalit girl, then his luck could have clicked and he would have become the Prime Minister.”

The Nagpur police lodged a case based on a complaint filed by Deepak under Section 3 (1) (10) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Since the alleged incident took place in Lucknow, the Nagpur police will not investigate the matter, but will transfer the case to the concern police station.

“Since the alleged offence took place in Lucknow, we will transfer the case from Nagpur. We have lodged a FIR based on the complaint made by a local,” Nagpur Police Commissioner K. Pathak told The Hindu.
