Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday promised to “fast track” the decision making process in the State administration and to clear all stalled projects with alacrity.
Replying to the debate on the speech of the Governor in the Lower House of the Legislature, Mr. Fadnavis said, “We have managed to get different clearances for many stalled projects in the last one month. We have decided to fast track the process of decision making which will result in easy and speedier clearance of developmental projects.” Defending the proposal for a special committee under the Prime Minister for the development of Mumbai, the Chief Minister said, “The rights to clear more than 50 per cent projects related to Mumbai are with the Central government. A committee headed by the PM will give fast approvals and clearances for projects in Mumbai.”
Mr. Fadnavis urged the Opposition not to play politics over the issue of Mumbai’s development and declared that no one could “snatch” Mumbai from Maharashtra.
The Chief Minister also announced that the Local Body Tax would be repealed and a transparent PPP (Public Private Partnership) policy would be formulated.
Mr. Fadnavis pledged to implement e-governance and reduced the limit of e-tenders to Rs. 3 lakh from Rs.10 lakh.
Mr. Fadnavis said his government would not tolerate “injustice” to the Marathi speaking people in disputed Belagavi town. “We will employ best legal minds to represent the State in the Supreme Court over the Belgaon issue. The territory belongs to Maharashtra and the State government will do everything to get it back,” he said.
