Following the communal violence in Dhule which claimed four lives and injured around 100 people, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan called a meeting of authorities on Monday.
The State government will pay all the expenses for the last rites of those who died in the violence and for the medical treatment of those injured.
Mr. Chavan has ordered a magisterial inquiry and sought the report within two months. Additional Director General of Police Javed Ahmad has been ordered to go to Dhule and take necessary steps to bring the situation under control.
Over 100 police officers have been injured.
Meanwhile, a group of Muslim organisations met Director General of Police Sanjeev Dayal and asked him to ensure that no innocents were arrested.
“There was no warning given before the police firing on Sunday. Instead of trying to save people, the police directly fired on them,” said M.A. Khaled, general secretary, All India Milli Council.
