Madrasa student set afire, tension in Bengal village

A tense situation prevails in Bhagwanpur village in Purba Medinipur district on Saturday after an incident in which a Madrasa student was allegedly set on fire on Tuesday by a “group of men.” However, the situation was quickly brought under control, the police said.

Amiruddin Khan (16), a student was set on fire by unidentified persons after tying him to a window of Madrasa Hafiz-e-Quran at Bhagwanpur Madrasa Darul Uloom late on Tuesday evening. Mr. Khan suffered “severe burns,” said Bengal president of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, Chowdhury.
