Lok Sabha Secretary-General tenure extended

The Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Meira Kumar, on Friday extended the tenure of the Lok Sabha Secretary-General, P.D.T. Acharya, for one year starting October 1, 2009.

Mr. Acharya has held this position since August 2005 and his current tenure was to have ended on September 30.

Mr. Acharya helped the Speaker of the 14th Lok Sabha, Somnath Chatterjee, steer the House through some difficult times.
