Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan addresses members during the second phase of the budget session of Parliament in March 2018.

After the laying of papers amid din, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said she has received notices of no-confidence against the Council of Ministers from Y.V. Subba Reddy (YSRCP) and Thota Narasimham (TDP).

She said she was duty bound to take these up and those in the Treasury benches have no problem with it. But she can do so only if the House is in order.

Ms. Mahajan said that she needs to count 50 members supporting the motion at their seats but can’t do so because of the protests in the Well. She then adjourned the House, saying it is not in order. She added that due to Ram Navmi, the House will meet on Tuesday.
