Officials said “progress has been made” on the nuclear issue and India was looking forward to “effectively” work with the U.S. in this “extremely important” field.
The Indian liability law holds the suppliers directly liable in case of a nuclear accident while countries like France and the U.S. have asked India to follow global norms under which the primary liability is with the operator.

Mr. Modi and Mr. Obama went for the brief walk before settling in a special enclosure at the lawns where the two leaders held one-on-one talks over tea, reflecting increasing bonhomie between the two leaders.

Obama cancels Agra leg of visit
The Uttar Pradesh Government has been informally informed about the change of plans and the American security team has already left Agra.
The visit is likely to see the announcement of many important agreements, including the renewal of the ten-year Defence strategic framework, cyber-security cooperation, an enhanced partnership on counter-terrorism, among others, with a comprehensive joint statement drafted.
