The UPA government on Saturday announced in the Lok Sabha that it intended to introduce the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Bill, 2010, during the monsoon session itself.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said that the government wanted the Bill to be passed.
The government also planned to go ahead with the Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members of Parliament (Amendment) Bill, 2010, during the current session.
Earlier in the day, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee met senior leaders of various political parties and said their concerns would be addressed before introducing the Bill.
Several parties had expressed their resentment that the hike proposed for salaries of MPs by the Cabinet was a let-down as it was much below the recommendations of the parliamentary committee.
The other bills to be taken up include the Orissa (Alteration of Name) Bill, 2010, and the Constitution (113th Amendment) Bill, 2010, seeking to change the name of the language ‘Oriya' in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution to ‘Odiya.'
