Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Thursday said the Centre had some intelligence inputs that terrorists might strike at some places and had accordingly sent advisories to all State governments. Though he said that a few cities were put on high alert, he did not confirm whether Hyderabad was one of them.
“We had information… from nationwide [intelligence] inputs about possible attacks for the last two days. Few cities were put on high alert…all States were alerted,” Mr. Shinde told journalists after an emergency meeting.
Stating that he was rushing to Hyderabad, Mr. Shinde said the National Investigation Agency (NIA) already begun the probe into the blasts, while the National Security Guard (NSG) experts were assisting in the investigation.
He also refused to name any terrorist outfit for the blasts. “We should not come to any conclusion and wait for the investigation,” he said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has announced Rs. 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs.50,000 each to the seriously injured.
