The Left Parties on Monday formally announced plans to hold a rally here next month to focus on price rise, protection of land of peasants, land reforms and employment for all.

The March 12 ‘March to Parliament’ will be the culmination of a nation-wide campaign on all these issues, the statement said . It was attended by Prakash Karat (CPI-M), A.B. Bardhan (CPI), Debabrata Biswas (Forward Bloc) and T.J. Chandrachoodan (RSP).

“The rally will give a call for action in order to realise these demands. The Left parties appeal to all sections of the people to make the rally a big success,” said the statement. Left leaders said the rally would also focus on the violence against the Left party activists in West Bengal especially by Maoists and Trinamool Congress.

Other issues to be raised include universalising the public distribution system, ban on futures trading in food grains, cutting customs and excise duties on oil and reducing retail prices of petrol and diesel.
