No interference, says Jaitley

January 17, 2015 11:26 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 05:55 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

In his Facebook post on Saturday, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Arun Jaitley rubbished allegations of interference and corruption in the functioning of the Central Board for Film Certification and said neither he nor his Minister of State Rajyavardhan Rathore, had any communication with any member of the censor board.

Reacting to the resignation of Chairperson of the Board, Leela Samson and other members, he said, “The charge that meetings of the censor board are not being held is a self-condemnation.”

“The meetings are to be convened not by the Minister or the Secretary, but by the chairperson. If the meetings are not being convened, it is for those responsible for non-functioning who must blame themselves,” he wrote.

Mr. Jaitley also said the censor board did not utilise the funds allocated to it by the Ministry and returned them as unspent.
