The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Thursday said it stood for transparency in public life but made a strong plea for exempting the internal affairs of political parties from being brought within the ambit of the Right to Information Act, 2005. CPI general secretary Sudhakar Reddy refuted the CIC’s suggestion that parties received substantial financial help from the government and hence must be brought under the RTI.
