Advocate Elephant Rajendran, on whose writ petitions the Madras High Court ordered the suspension of R.K. Chandramohan's membership and consequently chairmanship of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, on Wednesday filed a caveat in the Supreme Court to prevent any ex parte order being passed on appeals.

Acting on the petitions, the High Court on Tuesday directed that Mr. Chandramohan be suspended forthwith for his alleged attempt to influence Justice R. Regupathi (since retired), using the name of the former Union Communications Minister, A. Raja, in an anticipatory bail case.

In his caveat, Mr. Rajendran said that in the event of Mr. Chandramohan filing an appeal in the Supreme Court “let nothing be done in this matter without prior notice to the caveator/respondent.”
