RJD president Lalu Prasad on Tuesday said his party would support Vice President Hamid Ansari as the Presidential candidate.

“Our Vice President Hamid Ansari should be made the President. He is a good candidate for the President’s post. He should be upgraded as the President,” Mr. Prasad told reporters outside Parliament.

Asked about his party’s stand on former President APJ Abdul Kalam, the RJD leader said, “Kalam has already been the President. Now Ansari should be made because he is an able person and his performance is also best in the Rajya Sabha.”

Presidential elections will be held in July and the UPA has to depend on other parties as it does not have required numbers to elect a President on its own strength.

BSP supremo Mayawati said, “It is too early to comment on it. Let the name of candidate be declared first and then only we will make our stand known.”

BJP leader Rajnath Singh said, “We do not want to comment on any individual. But our view is that there should be a consensus among all political parties on the candidature of the President.”

Janata Dal (U) leader Sharad Yadav also refused to comment on any name for the Presidential candidate, saying, “Let’s first hold talks on the issue.”

So this politician is back with his 'Green Card'. He will never loose a single chance to impress minority.

At a time, when everyone wants honourable Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, a non-politician,to head our nation, this politician is making mockery of our nation by playing his politics.

Mr.Hamid Ansari may not be a right candidate for the next president of India. Already two moslems have been the President of India. Hamid Ansari proved as chairman of the Rajya sabha that he is not brisk and active and simply keep the House proceedings going.A vibrant and dynamic person need to be elected as next president. All the names so far suggested are no way come nearer to the Nation` expectation. I repeat person of the calibre of GOPAL KRISHNA GANDHI,apolitical person and a gujarati, may be a right choice for the present situation.
He fulfill all the conditions for a perfect President of India
Other suitable persons for consideration-Former Election Commissioner T.N.Seshan, Justice V.R.Krishna iyer and Mulayam Singh too fit in.

Hamid Ansari being the present Vice President and an eminent IFS officer is surely a good candidate for presidency. However Dr APJ Abdul Kalam who held the office once had influenced a lot of people particularly youngsters should be given a second chance for presidency. Like laluprasad said, being made the president once does not refrain him from being the next president,Kalam can take india and its relations to higher level if elected for a second time.

'Mr. president'. this term has never found that much significance in India as in other countries (read USA).INdian president have always been like a king without Kingdom . but Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalaam enjoyed unprecedented respect from india people and especially the youth of the country. It sowed that against the popular norm non-political president is a possibilty and rather a good one . So political parties should look into this and consider the names like Narayan Murthy etc. for the reverend post as well.

Indeed the present Vice-president Hamid Ansari may be the best choice.
The country may be able to hold the prices of steel and automobiles
steady and make it go in reverse direction if you put Mr.Tata as the
President also.OH what Drama in the making!

Of course, after the Lokpal bill drama in RS, Mr. Ansari will get full support of Congress and its friends. I just hope he's ready for he strip searches that await him at TSA in the USA.
