Kochi put on high alert

Kochi has been put on high alert following an instruction from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

Sources in the city police said the communication, given over phone, asked to activate the high alert mechanism.

No specific details of the threat were given.

Officials at the Union Ministry confirmed the same.

Accordingly, entry points to the city have been put on close surveillance. The Airport, railway station and bus terminals have been put under observation for suspicious movement of persons. Police parties are conducting checks at hotels and lodges. The high alert is expected to continue for a few days.
