A day after the Delhi Police registered a case against former IPS officer and Team Anna member Kiran Bedi following a complaint of alleged cheating against her, colleague Arvind Kejriwal came out in support and declared that she was being targeted for her fight for a “strong Lokpal Bill.”

Complaint ‘malicious'

Armed with documents and flanked by Ms. Bedi and her lawyer Somnath Bharti at a press conference, Mr. Kejriwal alleged that the complaint against the former cop-turned-NGO founder was “completely false, fraudulent, malicious and mala fide.”

“The FIR was lodged against Kiran Bedi not for fraud and cheating, but for fighting for a strong Lokpal Bill,” he said.

Claiming that efforts were still on to defame Team Anna, he said there was no prima facie evidence supporting the complaint and they had proof that Ms. Bedi's dealings with Microsoft India, the sponsor of the computer training to paramilitary forces and other state police organisations, and the beneficiary, Vedanta Foundation, were above board.
